Paula Beattie
Network Regional Manager
Paula Beattie has worked in the Community/Voluntary sector in a management capacity since the late 1980's following graduation from QUB. Starting in the women's sector, Paula has worked for a range of organisations both at local and regional level including: Citizens Advice Bureau, Age Concern, Help the Aged and various interagency community development projects. Throughout these years she has gained particular experience and interest in the following areas: policy and public affairs, advice and advocacy, lobbying, community development, project and service management, business planning and organisational development. She is also trained in media work. Originally from North Belfast Paula is committed to working to address the trauma caused by political conflict particularly at community/societal level through ongoing partnership working and planning. | |

A TRN founder, Fergus has spent much of the past 15 years directly engaged in trauma related counselling, psychotherapy, clinical supervision, organisational development and consultancy work. Initially a rural Youth and Community Development Worker in South Armagh he moved to Belfast in 1986 working with regional and national organisations including Barnardo's, Gingerbread, Cooperation Ireland and the CRC. Fergus trained as a psychotherapist 1990-1994 and was appointed to a GP surgery in North Belfast as Practice Counsellor in 1996-97. His subsequent three year tenure on the Tara Centre Psychotherapy team in Omagh (2000-2003) preceded his current role as Clinical Director with Contact Youth Counselling. Fergus brings more than ten year’s independent consultancy, facilitation/conflict management training and supervision experience to his role as TRN Former Chair. His abiding interests include intergenerational trauma recovery, experiential learning and organisational development. He likes to unwind with his young family and friends in the wilds of Donegal.

Joelle Gartner, TRN Director and Vice Chair
Psychotherapist and Trainer
Joelle Gartner is an experienced gestalt psychotherapist, trainer and clinical supervisor. She runs a private psychotherapy practice, trains counsellors in a local Institute of Further and Higher Education, and supervises a number of therapists and trainee therapists. She is particularly interested in process work with groups and community organizations, and her work has included leading groups on prejudice and diversity in the voluntary sector, and promoting mental health and psychological well-being in communities affected by poverty and the aftermath of the conflict. She has served on the Bamford Review, and on the North and West Belfast Suicide and Self-Harm Group. Her initial background is in education and policy development. She lives and works in West Belfast.

Rachel Craig TRN Director
Family Worker, Corrymeela
Rachel Craig first became involved in Peace Building in 1977 by joining the Corrymeela Community Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
Living and working at the Centre from 1990 as a family for 11 years, raising 3 boys she was involved in developing the Creative Art learning/ Experiential learning programme and became the Programme Resource Coordinator at the Centre and developed an holistic approach to Trauma Recovery.
Rachel is now the Family and Community worker for the Corrymeela Community developing capacity in the both urban and rural settings and running Residential Programmes at the Centre from this out-reach work.
She has trained in Conflict Management on the foundation of T.I.D.E.S. Training
and is a facilitator and trainer in
Trauma Recovery.
